2016-2017 Gift Guide: Pearls Are Forever

Posted on 15 August 2016

Gifting pearl jewelry is usually instilled with a type of elegance that diamonds do not possess. Big pearls are statements of regal elegance. Smaller, more common-sized pearls are for everyday ladylike class. A gift of pearls is a gift of classic style, and classic style never goes out.

Pearls have had a long and varied history over the centuries, often seen as a symbol of wealth. Natural pearls in particular were highly desired and worn as a symbol of royalty in Europe and Asia. Just like all stones and gems, pearls held special meaning, often regarded to represent protection in Asia or purity in Europe. Pearls have also been immortalized on screen and off by Hollywood and contemporary icons. Audrey Hepburn's iconic look in Breakfast at Tiffany's, Grace Kelly, Jackie O. Elizabeth Taylor took it one step above when she commissioned Cartier to recreate the La Peregrina.
